Experimental course 2025

Simple story and positive result.

  1. I’ve been experiencing a lot of stress in recent years (the main reason being the terrible war that has continued from 2022). This constant stress affects my skin, and as a result, my PASI has become higher (up to 4-5) than it has been for many years (up to 2-3). My method for reducing and controlling psoriasis is the same as before: my individual diet and periodic phage therapy courses with intestinal lavage (1-2 times a year).
  2. Last years you could call them preventative, since I do them without prior (and subsequent) testing of my small intestinal microbiome (as many years ago). And result is always positive. Previously, I only included phages against psoriagenic bacteria in these courses. However, in the last year, I’ve also started including phages against enhancing bacteria. The phages had already been purchased, delivered to Ljubljana, and stored in the refrigerator. The next course was scheduled for November 2025.
  3. However, in mid-October, after a hike in the woods, I discovered a tick on my hand. Oh well, it happens, it’s not the first time. I removed the tick with special tweezers, and a pinpoint mark remained at the bite site. Unfortunately, after just three days, this mark had turned into a pink spot about 5 mm in diameter. This is a bad sign (the possibility of very beginning of Lyme disease or tick-borne encephalitis). So I went to my doctor. The doctor took a look and immediately prescribed a course of the antibiotic Sumamed (azithromycin) + probiotic Linex. The standard sumamed regimen is 500 mg + 500 mg on the first day, followed by 500 mg for four days. I bought it that same day and started taking it right away.
  4. And at that very moment I remember that this particular antibiotic (azithromycin) had been mentioned in studies on the successful treatment of psoriasis. This and other similar works on the use of antibiotics in the treatment of psoriasis are cited in section A2.5 of the appendix to the monograph. And that taking phages together with the antibiotic is more effective than either of them alone (synergy). And that I had never tested the effect of any antibiotics on my psoriasis. That’s how the idea for the experimental course came about. Which began the next day.

Experimental course of treatment for psoriatic disease.

The goal of treatment is to eliminate SIBO with psoriagenic and enhancing bacteria.

The experimental course consisted of two simultaneous courses.
The prophylactic 4-day apple fast with phagotherapy and transient probiotic Enterol. New to this course was the inclusion of three phage cocktails, primarily targeting the enhancing bacteria.

  • Apple fast. Natural apple juice (without sugar) from packages – unlimited. Water – unlimited, but more than 1.5 liters per day (mineral water to taste). Raw apples – two or three pieces per meal. If you doubt peel quality (sometimes apples were stored for a long time, probably covered with wax) – eat without it. Stewed ones are preferable in the evening.
  • Intestine lavage (Matkevich lavage).
  • Phages: Intestiphage, Klebsiphage, Piophage. I’ve included Piophage in courses many times before. I’ve included Intestiphage in courses rarely. I’ve included Klebsiphage in courses for the first time.
  • Probiotic Enterol (Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745). Previously, I have included it in prophylactic courses on several occasions.

The classic course (antibiotic + probiotic) was prescribed after a tick bite.

  • Sumamed (Azithromycin)
  • Linex (Slo, En). There could have been another probiotic here, but the doctor recommended taking this one along with sumamed.

I ran this experimental course from November 1st to 7th, 2025.
There were no aftereffects from the tick bite. The pink spot at the bite site disappeared within the first week of the experimental course. The first positive changes in my psoriasis were visible after 4-6 weeks, and by 10 weeks they were undeniable. After this experimental course, I took no other medications, used no ointments, or changed my diet. So, the effect you can see on the next page was due solely to this course.

PASI calculation and photos of some spots (before the course and after three months) are here.
Spoiler: my PASI dropped from 4.1 to 1.0!

I suspect that the combined use of the antibiotic azithromycin and phage cocktails resulted in the complete exclusion of specific species of psoriagenic and/or enhancing bacteria from my small intestinal microbiome.
Which species, exactly? Since I didn’t perform a classic SIBO test before and after this course (as I did in 2012), it’s impossible to say for sure.

The main conclusion is that a course of treatment including the antibiotic azithromycin in combination with phage cocktails is effective in the treatment of psoriatic disease.
